Μπορεί το Studio 54 να έκλεισε πριν από τέσσερις δεκαετίες, αλλά το θρυλικό νεοϋορκέζικο νάιτ κλαμπ αποκτά διαστάσεις εμβληματικού τοπόσημου σε βαθμό που το Brooklyn Museum του αφιερώνει έκθεση με τίτλο «Studio 54: Night Magic» – και ένα βιβλίο –, η οποία μελετά την ιστορία του και την επιρροή του.

Στις 26 Απριλίου του 1977 άνοιξαν το Studio 54 οι συνιδρυτές Steve Rubbel και Ian Schrager.

Λειτούργησε για 33 μόνο μήνες και έκλεισε τον Φεβρουάριο του 1980.

Αφότου πωλήθηκε στον Mark Fleischman, ξανάνοιξε και πάλι για σύντομο χρονικό διάστημα μέσα στη δεκαετία του 1980, αλλά η έκθεση στο Brooklyn Museum εστιάζει μόνον στους 33 μήνες της πρώτης φάσης λειτουργίας του.

Studio 54 quickly cemented itself as a place where artists, designers, and patrons alike could express themselves through fashion.

Designers like Halston and Larry LeGaspi made fashion an integral part of the nightclub scene where there were many memorable outfits.

Among others who added to the bold and diverse ensembles of the dance floor were British designer Zandra Rhodes and artist Richard Gallo, photographed here in a quilted coat.

As well as being a location where fashion converged, Studio 54 also saw the birth of Calvin Klein’s iconic line of jeans, which famously emerged after a late-night conversation at the club.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ What better excuse to get dressed up than a trip to see Studio 54: Night Magic?
